“Steady” Ed Red Ale Makes Its Debut
You can call it coming full circle. You can also call it a hoppy ending. Whatever you may call it, the development of a beer in Ed’s name is a well deserved tribute to the father of disc golf. Thanks to the folks at Corralitos Brewing Company, we now have the perfect beer to raise in a toast to “Steady” Ed for everything he did for our great sport!
DGA is excited to announce that Corralitos Brewing Company has recently released its “Steady” Ed Red Session Ale, which is available for a limited time in their taproom. DGA is happy to give its blessings to the brew, which was brought to life by Luke Taylor, the owner of Corralitos Brewing Co.
Luke has a very special connection to “Steady” Ed Headrick. It was in the facilities of Luke’s father’s lumberyard business that Ed used to have an office. This is where he operated DGA and continued his tinkering with the disc golf basket and developed his various ideas on how to grow the sport of disc golf. Now, the Corralitos Brewing Company is located in the same exact building where Ed was once developing the sport we all love.
It was quite an honor for Luke and his crew to think of DGA and “Steady” Ed for this limited edition ale, and the beer itself does not disappoint. It is a session red ale that is full of flavor, with floral notes and hints of fruit and hops. With it’s relatively light 4.6% ABU, the “Steady” Ed Red is a perfect thirst quenching compliment to a disc golf round, where alcohol consumption is legal of course.
DGA is looking forward to having this ale featured at the upcoming “Steady” Ed Memorial Masters Cup tournament in May for players, spectators, and volunteers to enjoy. It is a wonderful way to offer a toast to the man behind the great sport of disc golf.
A huge thanks goes out to Corralitos Brewing Co. for making this beer a reality and all their efforts in working with DGA to pay homage to “Steady” Ed and his legacy. Make sure to stop by the Corralitos Brewing Company’s taproom, located at: 2536 Freedom Blvd in Watsonville, CA for your chance to try out this awesome ale. Cheer’s Ed, this beer is for you!
